So recently I was treated to afternoon tea at the Grosvenor Hotel at Victoria, and I don't know if any of you have ever visited, it was my first time and the foyer area made me stop and let out a big "wow" the chandelier and the flora centrepiece display really impressed. I was ushered quickly to the cosy area where the afternoon was being served. The atmosphere was old fashioned in a really modern way and the cosy seats with low table really give off that Downton Abbey feel.
I must say I wasn't majority impressed with sandwiches selection as I felt that the bread may have been left out a little tad too long. However, the scones, was light and fluffy and not stodgy and seat heavily on you stomach making you feel unable to venture on to the top layer of tier of a range of cheesecakes, chocolate and Victoria sponge.
Service I felt was a tad slow, however the manager was extremely tentative and when I waited ages for my tea he made sure I got what I needed in a jiffy and came back to make sure we was happy.
Just also to say which I thought was a shame was that the hotel did not make their own cakes, a shame though I would definitely come back for those scones!
The experience was expensive but we had a voucher to make it more worthwhile, if you wanna give this a try, I recommend looking out for vouchers available.
